Team Orne saw their nine-week win streak come to a crashing halt in this absolute beatdown by Team Stevenson. Team Stevenson saw every single player shoot over average tonight, and with three of them being more than 90 pins over for the night. The biggest of these came from captain Dylan Stevenson (1075) who finally brought some of his tournament scores back into league, much to the dismay of Darren Maxwell (794) who was rightfully swept after his poorest showing of the year. The best matchups of the night came from the top half of the lineup with Erik Stewart (852) holding on to the win despite attempting to give it all back with a 288-144 pummeling from Jennifer Duncan (832) in game three. The other top half matchup was Tyler Reynolds (951) taking only a single point despite throwing a season high total, all thanks to an even stronger night from Chelsea Kehler (990). With so much potential for high scores on this set, it was a rather lackluster match. Most of these matchups were pretty well decided before the final game was even started. Team Youzwa put up their third sub-10-point week in the last four, slowly losing their grip on that A-side spot. Team Gelardi is the complete opposite, as they continued to ride high atop the league. Mitch Dubell (783) and Wayne Wolanski (772) both got away with lower nights as their opponents Mark Prystupa (628) and Jenna Gillrie (754) both struggled for much of the night. With two teams at opposite ends of the standings, this kind of lopsided match comes as no surprise. It did provide a quite entertaining back and forth matchup between Carter Schade (815) and Jeff Bradshaw (815) who decided every game in the 10th frame, no game being more than a 17-pin difference. It was such a good match they even decided to share total. Team LaMonica also won in the spare department this week with Brooke Goulet (980) sweeping Matt Rodych (810) who fell off the rails for the night. Team Rodych’s spare Michael Linsenmeier (834) did not see the same success against Sam Gelardi (904), managing only a single point and even losing a 168-165 barn burner in game four. In an odd turn of events, it turns out this worked out for both teams as Team Enns made it clear they have their eyes set on the B-side. Captain Craig Enns was essentially the sole point provider for their team as he swept the disheveled bowling of Ben Jeffers (752), taking 5/7 of his team’s points. In every other matchup Team B. Jeffers was firing on all cylinders. Scott Saunderson (890) saw his second best total and most consistent scoring night of the year, keeping Dwight Hurd (760) just a little quieter than normal. Adam Williamson (985) may have fallen just short of that elusive 1000 pin total, but set a new team high with a back nine 363, and dominating Garry Bell (730). Season series Team B. Team Devenney fell 26 pins shy of ending their now 13-week losing streak. This was a tight match as Team Lourenco needed to make a game four, 60-pin comeback to steal away the win. Jennifer Devenney (890) got a much-needed win off Belle Lourenco (790) who struggled throughout the night. Luckily, Belle was well supported by her first-round pick Ethan Buckman (946) who balanced things out with his win over Holly Chaikowski (819). The leadoff matchup saw Tabatha Gelardi (834) grind out a win over Neil Stewart (775) as this matchup was practically even going into game four. Team Cook is on a mission to get themselves into the A-side and showed it with another strong win over Team Cousins this week. Despite it being a little closer than expected, Gillian LaMonica (733) still did just as predicted and took a solid four points off of Dave Priestley (696). At the second position Shannon Pruden (881) did have a great night, but unfortunately it was shadowed by the even better bowling of Jayson May (996). The third position saw the rare win the night but lose total strategy from Char McIvor (886), thanks to a game one 306-195 win by Alyssa Campbell (903). Lastly of course, Trevor Cook (1131) continues his lights out bowling, extending his 1100+ streak to four weeks in a row, barely giving Cindy Cousins (877) a sniff at any game. Bowling is all about having fun, is ideally what is going through Team Bartram’s heads as they recover from an absolute whooping by Team King and their spares. This win was huge for Team King to put themselves in a good position to hang onto the final A-side spot. Colton Harris (703) and Mark Goldsworthy (856) had a couple close games with Patrick Walker (874) and Michael Young (947), but were never able to finish them off, giving away all 10 points between them. Derek Sanderson (730) can take a little bit of comfort knowing he took his win, and made up 75% of his team total points. Jeston Bartram (869) started with a close 218-215 win in game one, but things did not go in his favour after that as Derek Sabourin (1035) finished with an 820 triple to take his total with ease.
